Press release: The worlds greenest castor
At Swede-Wheel we always prioritize investments that help us take a step towards a more sustainable future. In our production, in Hillerstorp Sweden, we’ve always internally reused the spill from our plastic production and recycled all other spill materials. We see this as a small but important step in material effectiveness positive both in an environmental and economic point of view.
Swede-Wheel launches sustainable innovation in a new castor series, ECO-41, fully produced in recycled materials*.
The last couple of years we’ve been working with plastic material innovations in both in collaboration with suppliers and clients. We’ve added both a recycled PP/TPE wheel series and a recycled PP in combination with a biobased TPE to our offer. These sustainable innovations are now used in, for example, a specific sustainable trolly series from a large Swedish trolly producer. We’ve also included these wheels in a client collaboration project resulting in the first cleaning trolly that is certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolable.
With the new ECO-41 series, we’ve taken the sustainable product innovation one step further and can now, probably, offer the greenest castor in the world by combining a 100% recycled wheel in combination with a sheet metal bracket produced, in Sweden, with recycled steel**. This steel is produced in Europe from scrap metal with a process generating just 20% of the CO2 emission compared with conventional production manufactured from virgin raw materials.
The ECO-41 series is a recycled castor made in Swede, by Swede-Wheel, to contribute to a purposeful work for a better and more sustainable future. To prolong the life of the castor and by that make the castor even more sustainable the standard ECO-41 series comes with the Swede-Wheel NoX surface treatment.
The ECO-41 series offer includes the same castors as in the Swede-Wheel standard range of the 41-series in Ø75 and Ø100mm diameter institutional castors and with the same technical specifications and properties.
The offer with recycled materials will widen going forward and we are, as always, taking requests from clients with adaptations including the full standard range of sheet metal brackets produced in Sweden.
*Swivel ball bearing balls and potential wheel bearings are not produced in the same recycled steel as the sheet metal bracket.
** The steel is certified with a minimum of 71% recycled scrap metal.
