Rust protection
The Swede-Wheel stainless steel brackets are made out of 1.4301 steel, also known as AISI 304. It is a versatile and widely used grade of stainless steel. It belongs to the austenitic family of stainless steels, which are known for their excellent corrosion resistance and high durability.
Corrosion resistance
One of the key advantages of stainless steel is its resistance to oxidation and staining, making it suitable for various applications where hygiene and cleanliness are essential. The Swede-Wheel stainless castors are commonly used in the food and beverage industry, pharmaceuticals, kitchen equipment, and architectural applications.
Furthermore, the stainless brackets has excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and good toughness. It can withstand extreme temperatures, making it suitable for both cryogenic and high-temperature environments.
Stainless steel
The composition of 1.4301/AISI 304 stainless steel consists of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, making it highly resistant to corrosion, even in harsh environments. This alloy also contains a small amount of carbon, which enhances its strength and machinability. Additionally, it exhibits good formability and weldability, allowing for a wide range of applications.
Nox
NOX is short for ”no oxide” and is a Swede-Wheel coating developed to prolong the life our wheel housings. It’s a part of our sustainability work and resulted in a product with a anti corrosion level pretty much in the middle of a standard zinc-plated and stainless housing. In other words, it’s a perfectly ”lagom” coating for wheels used outdoors or in wet environments but stainless one way or another isn’t necessary.
Why NoX?
- Very good corrosion protection properties
- A cost effective alternative to stainless
- A sustainable and environmentally responsible option
Painted bracket
Painting brackets increases corrosion resistance by providing a protective barrier between the metal and the environment. The paint prevents direct contact with corrosive agents like moisture and oxygen.
Additionally, corrosion inhibitors in the paint further enhance protection. Regular maintenance and touch-ups are necessary for long-term effectiveness. Painted brackets also offer aesthetic benefits by matching color schemes and enhancing appearance.
