Press release: HexaWheel™

In a bold move focusing on redefining the concept of rolling, Swede-Wheel can finally present its latest innovation: the HexaWheel™! This hexagonal wonder boasts a 16% reduction in material usage, aiming for a more sustainable manufacturing process for wheels while maintaining the rolling properties of a round wheel at higher speeds.

The idea challenges the traditional round wheel's monopoly. Swede-Wheel's research shows that at high speeds, the performance of the HexaWheel™ is practically the same as a traditional round wheel, with differences that are barely noticeable to the user. The company acknowledges a more bumpy feel at lower speeds but insists that the environmental savings and efficiency at high speed more than compensate for this.

 

The father of this innovation is named Filip Fröst, and he is happy to talk more about the HexaWheel™:

 "If it's good enough for beehives, it's good enough for wheels, as I always say! Of course, the HexaWheel™ may feel clumsy at the start, but tests have shown that at a certain speed, you hardly notice any difference from a conventional, round wheel."

 

 

How do you think the HexaWheel will affect the end user?

"It will obviously put more pressure on those working in logistics since carts with the HexaWheel™ require the operator to run at least 13 km/h... On the other hand, I would argue that it's an advantage since the increased speed will make the deliveries faster!"

 

You've received some criticism for your invention; is there anything you can say to that?

"I find it hard to see how this could not become a success that revolutionizes the entire industry. Of course, there are always those who are against change, or in this case, improvement, but I am convinced that the majority of the industry will welcome the HexaWheel™ with open arms."

 

 

Andreas Hildingsson, CEO, is just as excited about Swede-Wheel's strong spirit of innovation.

 "I think I speak for the entire management team when I say that we probably won't have to wait until the end of April before we announce the employee of the month! I find it intresting that one can work with wheels for over 30 years and still learn new things daily.

 

I am convinced that the HexaWheel™ will change the entire industry, and can’t really see any cart that won't benefit from this innovation... Ah, it's possibly the porcelain shop cart sector that might be a bit tough to gain market shares in, but otherwise, the wheel is a universal solution!"

 

A select few HexaWheels in 125 mm are already available for order, and by 2025, the option to choose a HexaWheel will be available for the entire range.
