The historical range of Swede-Wheel is probably not primarily associated with heavy duty castors. Early last decade we had the opportunity to start a new partnership with a large client in the Nordics. This partnership demanded a wider range of wheels as castors than the classic Swede-Wheel range of institutional, furniture and light to medium duty industrial castors. Over a period of years we expanded our range an invested a lot of time and effort into learning the new segment of heavy duty castors. Almost ten years later we are still learning, but the range is now a natural part of Swede-Wheel.
With strong partnerships and a large investment in keeping stock in Hillerstorp we can provide the European market with a wide range of heavy duty castors with short lead/delivery times. Our range spans over wheel diameters from 80-400mm and with a dynamic load capacity of up to 6300kg.
Our range of PU casters is floor protective and non-marking. The tread has a high abrasion and cut resistance, is resistant to oils, fats and a wide range of chemicals. It recovers to round shape after static load and has a high resistance against picking up cuttings, gravel etc. They come in both aluminum and cast iron hub. The aluminum hub is lighter and reduces the weight of the wheel compared to the cast iron whereas the cast iron is more sturdy, better suited for rough applications and also when it comes to the really heavy loads.
SW Standard PU Flat 93° Shore A (link)
Cast polyurethane offer low rolling resistance, smooth and noiseless running.
This is a really versatile castor used in a wide range of applications such as outside sweeper gear to warehouse/production logistical gear used in production of windmills and other large/heavy products. The high weight capacity and wide tread also makes it suitable for moving lager machines and similar heavy equipment on sensitive floors like industrial epoxy floors etc.
Superelastic Flat 83° Shore A (link)
Cast green elastic polyurethane in hardness 83°Shore A combines the properties of elastic rubber wheel with the high abrasion and cut resistance of polyurethane wheel. It offer a very low rolling resistance, smooth and noiseless running.
This castor is often used in different material handling and internal logistics solution when there is a high demand on low rolling resistance in for example longer tugger trains. The wide tread enables a good traction in steep corners etc.
Superelastic Convex 83° Shore A (link)
Cast green elastic polyurethane in hardness 83°Shore A with a convex tread offer a low rolling resistance, smooth and noiseless running. The convex tread gives less contact area and reduced swivel resistance, which makes it suitable for manually operated trolleys/carts.
Its commonly used on material handling solutions and internal logistical solutions where there is a high demand on ergonomics and low rolling resistance. This option is perfect for light to medium weight trolleys moved both by hand and in for example trains. This castor is used in internal logistics solutions in car productions plants all around the world.
Superelastic Convex 93° Shore A (link)
Cast orange-brown elastic polyurethane in hardness 93°Shore A with a convex tread, much like the green castor in 83° Shore A, offer a very low rolling resistance, smooth and noiseless running. The convex tread gives less contact area and reduced swivel resistance, which makes it suitable for manually operated trolleys and trolleys that needs to able to easily change directions in small areas.
The areas of common use is pretty much the same as the softer green wheel with a convex tread. The biggest difference is that there is less power needed to start the applications that the wheels is assemble to with the harder thread making it more suited to a little heavier applications than the green.
Cast Nylon wheel - PA6G (link)
The PA6G wheel have a very high load capacity with characteristics similar to those for steel wheel. It has good floor saving properties which makes it a good alternative to wheels made of steel as they have a higher risk of breaking the floor etc. It is non-marking with a long life time, has a high resistance to shock loads and is resistant to most oils and chemicals. They have a low rolling resistance on smooth surfaces, but can easily get stuck on obstacles, such as cavities or small stones.
As an example of where this is used you can find it in production/restauration halls moving boats. In other words, real heavy duty applications.
Above is the most commonly used range in heavy duty applications. To mention a couple other heavy options we can also offer Steel and Iron castors, Rail wheels, Pneumatics filled and non-filled high load capacity wheels and last but not least additional products like the cast iron floor locks.
